Ian Miller, P. Eng., LEED AP, CCCA

Project Principal, Regional Operations Manager (S.W. Ontario), Practice Leader (Surveys)

Ian is a Project Principal and the firm’s Practice Leader for Building Surveys, as well as being the Operations Manager for Pretium’s Waterloo office.

Ian graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2004, receiving his Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering. He has been licensed as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario since 2007. Ian has earned his designation as an Accredited Professional for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP), and is a Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA).

Ian participates in project work relating to all of Pretium’s core services, working in fields of building audits as well as assessment, design, and repair of specific building component failures. Ian also gets involved in building enclosure design and construction review for new buildings.

Ian has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Building Envelope Council since 2011, serving as President of the organization from 2017 to 2019. Ian is also a participant in many other industry organizations, such as Canadian Condominium Institute (CCI), Construction Specifications Canada (CSC), the Sealant and Waterproofing Association of Ontario (SWAO), and the Building and Concrete Restoration Association of Ontario (BCRAO). Ian has published articles in several industry publications, and has been a featured speaker at industry events, academic conferences, and educational institutions. Ian is currently serving as the Chair organizing the 2021 Canadian Conference on Building Science and Technology.

Ian is passionate about building science education and masonry failure mechanisms.
