Garage Drainage Improvements
2 Level Parking Garage
- Drainage issues and ponding water due to poorly sloped slab-on-grade at lower level.
- Scope of work included localized removal of slab along foundation wall, installation of new drainage (weeping) tile tied into existing services and installation of new slab back-sloped towards the wall. Drainage board was used to allow water to drain between the slab and wall.
- Biggest challenge was acquiring permission from the Building Department to allow for the installation. In most cases, drainage tiles are to be connected to storm services and garage drains to sanitary services. In this case, a drainage tile was installed to function as an area drain. Citation of legal precedence was required.
